Warehouse Forklift Operator

Summary

You must be a responsible individual with experience in driving propane-fueled forklifts and excellent attention to detail. You will operate propane-fueled forklifts to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas and loading docks into trailers. Your job will involve driving around the warehouse and grounds.

You will be operating a forklift with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety. The goal will be to ensure that material and products will always be at the right place to achieve maximum efficiency.

Forklift Operators are responsible for optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency, reporting maintenance issues, and managing inventory by utilizing RF scanning equipment, among other duties.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
  • Obtain copy of production schedule or shipping order and transport material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility
  • Loading and unloading goods from vehicles (trailers)
  • Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility
  • Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions
  • Checking that loads are secure
  • Stacking empty pallets
  • Examining products to verify conformance to quality standards
  • Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
  • Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by reporting deficiencies
  • Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities
  • Inspecting for damages to vehicles (trailers).
  • Operating and managing technical equipment.
  • Managing inventory by utilizing RF scanning equipment.
  • Picking and wrapping orders for shipment.
  • Identifying workplace safety hazards.
  • Adhering to safety management standards.

Qualification requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills
  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
  • Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
  • Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
  • Maintain a clean & safe environment
  • Proven experience as forklift operator
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Proficiency operating technical machinery and RF scanners.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Good driving record

Physical demands and abilities

  • Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
  • Having a good motor skills
  • Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
